Ideas and tips on how to lead more healthily

We are constantly bombarded by ideas and tips on how to lead more healthily. A lot of us end up doing nothing because we feel overwhelmed and unable to make any changes! Here are 10 simple and some less typical tips to help you improve your health and wellbeing.

1. Preparation:Preparation might not seem like a traditional health tip, but it really is the foundation on which to build good habits, which then determine your results. Begin by grabbing a notebook and “predicting L-Glutathione 1000 mg  what the future holds for you” by developing a plan that covers all aspects that you live in. Think about which parts of your life aren’t effective and sketch out effective strategies to bring you closer to your targets.

For example, I exercise three times per week, eat 5+ fruit and vegetables each day (write out what food items I am eating are and the times they’re served) and Manage my anxiety levels by reading for one hour every day.

This tip is all about ensuring you know exactly what you have to take to achieve your want to achieve.

2. Accountability

Every time we embark on the process of creating a new routine that requires a push to get started. I am not a fan of using the words motivation and willpower because they’re extremely volatile feelings that can change from day to day basis. You don’t require willpower just to brush our teeth each day, nor should we to be motivated for a healthy lifestyle!

It is important to define your goals before forming a plan of action and then get into it. I recommend consulting a professional to help you develop a plan and hold you accountable. This is very beneficial, especially until habit takes over.

3. Avoid “Diets”

Who hasn’t heard of”the cabbage soup diet” or yourself tried a bizarre diet that cut out 90% of your regular food items! Dieting or going on some diet that is drastically different from your normal eating routine could put you in a position for failure. In the short-term, you might lose a few kilos. But I guarantee in some weeks after stopping your “diet” you’ll gain the entire, if not more weight than you did before. The reality is “diets” do not make you feel happy or practical, and therefore do not last long. We really do know what “good” food items are, but due to the lack of time and understanding on how to prepare some foods, we take shortcuts. It is a good idea to begin introducing more “good” foods in your diet.

4. Make sure you eat right

Alongside tip 3 it is crucial to nourish your body with the right nutrients. Try to eat a large filling breakfast of protein, a small portion of carbs and a little fat. For example, 2 eggs, toast made of wholegrain and 2 small scoops avocado. This kind of breakfast will help you get through the day. Eat every 3-4 hours or according to your body’s needs. Some people prefer high protein diets as this can make people feel more energetic. certain people prefer light meals. Contact a professional to get help.

5. Cardio Exercise

A healthy and balanced plan of action is without exercise! It is essential to live a life full of energy, living longer and being more healthy. It impacts all aspects of your life, including your sleeping patterns, stress levels and digestion. Try different forms of exercise to see which one you like best. Aim to do some form of cardio every day or resistance training, as well as stretching exercises at least once per weekly (stretches and yoga) to create a healthier body.

6. Sleep

Since we all lead an extremely busy life, it is often sleep that is sacrificed so that we can get more to our lives. Reduced quantity and quality of sleep can lead to an impaired immune system and increase your risk of fatigue, illness and stress. Most adults need between 6-8 hours of quality sleep per night. You can determine how much sleep leaves you feeling refreshed and alert the next day. You can make sleep your top priority by allowing yourself the time to unwind at the end the night in a way that suits you.

7. Digestion

Digestion is the most important aspect of healthy living. If you’re not able to maintain a good digestion, your body can’t absorb nutrients you get from your meals. A healthy bowel can prevent illnesses and contribute to feeling and looking healthier. If you’re suffering from constipation, you might experience headaches, or even muscle and joint pain. Your digestive system communicates with other areas of your body, and can have an impact positively on the overall health. If you feel you are overloaded, increase the amount of fiber gradually in your diet. Drink 1.5-2 Liters of water per day to aid in moving things in the right direction. Then, you can begin to look at areas of your lifestyle that are contributing to an uncomfortable stool. Stress, eating in a distracted manner or eating certain foods, and lack of exercise can all contribute to the problem.

8. Stress

Stress in general can be healthy for us as it motivates us to keep moving forward and achieving your goals. Continuous stress can lead to headaches, anxiety and insomnia if let to run amok. Stress can surface in a multiple of ways; snapping at your partner, getting up at 3am every night, feeling tired after 8 hours of sleep, feeling depressed or just plain “blah”.

I’m not going to suggest the idea of soaking in a hot bath or taking a trip to get massages to relieve your anxiety as they are not long term fixes. The solution lies in looking at your life and determining which aspects of your life that are out of your control. Our happiness in life is directly related to the amount of control we believe in our lives. If you’re stressed about feeling overweight, then make a change! If your relationship is making you feeling exhausted and discontent and depressed, you must take a major decision for your long-term health. Stress management is a continual procedure of managing your daily life to give you more in control.

9. Relationships

The increasing number of studies reveal that for humans to be happy and healthy we must build strong support networks and bonds. Friendships are good for our well-being! Take time every day to be with your family, friends, or your fellow friends. Women release endorphins (happy hormones) when we engage in a good gossip.

10. Perseverance and action

The ability to be armed with the best ideas and methods is all well and good, but unless you actually follow through with what you’ve learned and consistently apply it, then you are the same as if you weren’t aware of this information initially!
